Robusta Compacta closely related to the more commomly recognised Photinia Red Robin as the name suggests the main difference is the plants grow more compact, foliage is also a little smaller new growth is initially deep red fading to dark green. PRUNES very well, so it is very easy to maintain the shape with an annual pruning, or even multiple pruning throughout the growing season to keep the structure very defined and formal. The more it is pruned, the more flushes of red foliage can be admired. Only needing a light trim once or twice a year, can live in most soils that are well drained and happy in sun or semi shade. Foliage is evergreen, producing new shoots of red turning.
