Hornbeam Bare Root Hedging — Trade Pack x1000
One of the UK's most reliable and versatile native hedging species, Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is a firm favourite among landscapers, developers, and estate managers. At 80–100 cm, this grade establishes quickly and delivers a dense, formal hedge with excellent year-round screening.
Like Beech, Hornbeam is semi-evergreen — retaining its attractive buff-brown dead leaves through winter, providing privacy and wind protection even when dormant. Its fresh green spring foliage and strong upright habit make it ideal for formal boundaries and large-scale planting schemes.
Why Trade Buyers Choose Hornbeam
- Native UK species — robust, reliable, and wildlife-friendly
- Retains dead foliage through winter for year-round screening
- Tolerates heavy clay, wet soils, and exposed sites better than Beech
- Ideal for formal hedges, estate boundaries, and urban developments
- Fast-establishing bare root stock — plant between November and March
